Hello everyone,

As a fellow breast cancer survivor, I am extremely impressed with what Soraya has done to educate the public about breast cancer. I noticed that there was not a webpage devoted to her on the English wikipedia website - the encyclopedia for the Internet - so I created one at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soraya

I hope that the rest of you English-speaking fans will expand it for the benefit of everyone, and I hope that Spanish-speaking fans will create a wikipedia website for Soraya to spread information about her for the benefit of everyone.

I don't speak Spanish so can someone who is multi-lingual please notify Soraya's Spanish-speaking fans about this?

I also wanted to add Soraya's mother to the list of people who have died from breast cancer, but I have not been able to find her mother's name. Can someone please post it or add Soraya's mother's name to the wikipedia site where breast cancer patients and deceased victims are located?

I hope you get the help you need-this website can be pretty quiet sometimes.

I have been doing a search, but I cannot find the article I am looking for.
This is the best I can remember.

Soraya discovered that she had breast cancer a week before she was to begin touring for her second album, and she cancelled her tour.

There were many rumors floating around about why she cancelled her tour so she went public about her cancer.

She got many letters from people-I remember one of them said that her mom had not left her house for a year(it may have been two years) because she had a mastectomy.

I hope that I will not offend anyone by saying this-my sister was a missionary in South America, she told me that how a person looks is very important to Latino women. She told me in South America that if a woman wore a pair of jeans-they would be very expensive fancy jeans, and they would probably wear high heels shoes with them, and a nice blouse.

I am very proud of Soraya, to think that a woman would hide in her house after an operation, and Soraya is on television for the world to see looking beautiful, dancing, playing guitar and singing.

I look at her as someone who 'ministers' to people-not just a wonderful performer.

Someone was kind enough to write to me privately with Soraya's mother's name, and I added that information to the Wikipedia site.

I'm sure that Soraya's example will encourage many women to continue to feel confident even after being diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm sure that she is saving many lives by encouraging woman to be diagnosed and treated.
