Soraya was as courageous as she was charismatic and talented.
The American girl who became an incandescent pop star in Latin
America and Europe was a brilliant composer, lyricist and
musician, described by her musical peers as a vocalist of
mesmerizing and “angelic” power.
Raised
in New Jersey, Soraya was born in the U.S. to a Colombian
family. She proudly embraced her Hispanic roots, which helped
to win her the love and devotion of her fans on four continents.
With a perfect command of both Spanish and English, Soraya
wrote and performed in both languages. At the age of 31, and
at the height of her career, she was tragically diagnosed
with Stage III breast cancer. Soraya spent the rest of her
life using her music, her voice and her formidable talent
to raise awareness and educate women in underserved communities
about the disease. To read her full biography, click
